Yesterday I helped throw my niece a surprise baby shower and I’m so thrilled to finally be able to share the details!! I’m so used to sharing my projects asap so to keep it all under wraps was definitely a challenge!

She’s due to give birth to a baby boy in early April so we went with a teal/aqua, cream and gold theme.

My favorite part of party planning is the dessert table! I love the sweets in the apothecary jars, I love the arrangements of baked goods, and just all the little details!

The first thing I want to talk about is the backdrop. This was my first time using a backdrop and I got my hubby to make it for me 🙂. After putting it up we were able to see where we could improve with the backdrop look-wise but it definitely served its purpose and it still turned out great!!! We draped white backdrop paper over the frame and then draped 2 sheer curtains over the paper. For the “Baby Liam” sign, I free handed the letters on poster paper, painted them gold and cut out the letters. Somewhere during transportation of the decorations the dot of the letter “I” went missing but what are you gonna do? The sign still had to go up and it still looked awesome!!!

Here’s a closer look at the dessert table. The cupcakes, cake pops and sugar cookies were home made by me. I loved the gold sparkly cupcake wrappers! We just wanted touches of gold here and there as to not overpower the cream and blue.

The candy covered chocolates were from Bulk Barn and candied pretzels were made by me.

How gorgeous is this cake?? Not only was it beautiful but it tasted amazing too!!! The little gold fondant booties were too adorable. The cake definitely brought the whole table together. The cake was purchased from a local dessert shop here in Winnipeg called Pinky’s Bakeshop.

The candle holders were from Michael’s a few years back and we just painted them a green/blue hue. We used them as stands for our flower vases. I painted them gold and the fabric flowers were from Michael’s too!

Here’s a better look at the tulle table wrap. My niece Nicole actually made this herself and I couldn’t be more proud of her first DIY!!! It looked so gorgeous and fit so well with everything.

Who doesn’t love these IKEA plastic frames? So great for party signs!

Love this magnetic rustic board! On each table we set out jarred fabric flowers. The mason jars are from Dollarama and I painted them gold. The flowers are also from Dollarama!

Baby shower games!!!

This has to be one of my favorite projects to date! I love the colors, the soft look and touch of sweet elegance 🙂 I’m so happy that I was able to do what I love for people I love!

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!!!
